Welcome to Circle D Energy and Cattle Company online. We hope that this web site will give you a better understanding of our history, family and future.
It all started in 1979; at the age of eight years old. My grandfather was feeding out a Hereford Steer for the freezer. On Sunday’s after church we would go to my grandparents and I would work on turning that steer into a pet, when the day came and his purpose was fulfilled, my grandfather felt bad enough for me that he gave me a Hereford heifer calf. That heifer calf eventually had heifers that had more heifers and before long my herd was getting as big as my grandfathers. This could have been one of the deciding factors in my parent’s decision to move from town to a small farm where I could bring my cattle.
As the years passed, I found that no matter what I was involved in or where I was at, I always enjoyed spending time and taking care of cattle. Even when I met my future wife Loretta, she would help me put in hay and work the cattle. We were married in May of 1993 and one of our
first goals was to have our own farm which happened in 1995 and in that same year our daughter Caitlin was born. In 2000 our son Colton was born. As the children grew and had a great interest in this way of life, we decided to buy some registered Herefords for showing at local events and the County Fair. Before long this working hobby became an obsession with raising the best Hereford Cattle possible. We have traveled and brought in some of what we consider the best Hereford genetics in the country.
All of our original commercial Hereford’s and Hereford cross cattle have been turned into recips and with the added help of a high quality cooperator herd we have developed a very successful and large scale ET program. Here at Circle D all of our breeding decisions have one main goal and that is to produce high quality problem free cattle that will make money for our customers. Don’t get me wrong, we like to win cattle shows too, but people will remember and respect a great cow a lot longer than they will remember an unproven heifer that won a show on one judge’s opinion.
Last but not least, I would like to touch on the people in the Hereford breed; they are some of the best people we know. My family and I have made lifelong relationships and friends with people all over this country that we look forward to seeing during the show season.
We invite anyone to come see our operation and would enjoy having you stop by. |
